Hi, everyone! This week (Tues. and Wed.), we held team meetings for teams 2-5. If you were not able to attend your team's meeting, here's a recap:

EVENT ASSIGNMENTS

Event assignments for teams 2-4 have been completely locked in. Start getting familiar with your events and your partners! Make sure you have their contact information, so you can coordinate your studying with them.

We are still going through event appeals for team 5, but we hope to be finished soon! We will notify you all via Discord once we have everything finalized :)

STUDYING

Even though we have months left until regionals, you should not wait until the last minute to start preparing! Look through the rules manual to determine the topics you need to study for these next few months, and start planning your builds.

We're also planning on holding 2-3 study sessions throughout the year! At study sessions, top team members will be teaching you about general topics and procedures for your events. We hope these meetings can help you all pace your studying and stay on track before regionals.

TEAM CAPTAINS!

At your team meetings, we also had you all vote on your captains! Here they are:

  • Team 2: Grace Li and Albert Liu

  • Team 3: Alan Loam

  • Team 4: Laiba Farooqi

  • Team 5: Khushee Goel

Congratulations to you all! :D

MISSED YOUR MEETING?

If you were unable to attend your meeting this week, please email Mrs. Fowler ASAP.

This year, we have a lot of interest in SciOly. We have 5 teams (most years, we have 4) and a growing waiting list of people who would like to join. Due to national Science Olympiad rules and monetary limitations, we cannot accept everyone who is interested.

We will be taking attendance at meetings. If you repeatedly miss them (without a good reason or informing Mrs. Fowler) and show disinterest in SciOly, we may give up your spot to someone on the waiting list. We hope it won't have to come to this, so please attend our meetings!

About Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a national, team-based competition in which students compete in a variety of STEM-related events. The range of topics covered and skills required is vast – from building hovercrafts to applying forensics tools – but all are united by a common theme of scientific inquiry, and top competitors are recognized with medals.

At Scripps Ranch, the Science Olympiad club works to foster a collaborative environment for students to find success on competition day. For more information about the Science Olympiad program, please see soinc.org.
